Summary: The Senior Mailroom Clerk will oversee all day-to-day operations of the mailroom including
shipping and receiving of packages and mail, training part-time and fill-in help, customer transactions, and
identifying and solving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the campus mailroom to include receiving, sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff providing good customer service. Answer questions and solve problems related to mail and packages.
- Pick up and transport mail and packages to and from the proper facilities.
- Read and comprehend all major mailing and package company vendor rules and regulations and apply them to our customer requirements.
- Operate and maintain postage meter and scanning equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to load van with mail and packages and deliver to appropriate areas as needed.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to identify and solve problems, communicate effectively and perform critical thinking processes.
- Must be able to operate electronic equipment and maintain its proper use.
- Must be self-motivated position and capable of working with little supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years’ experience preferred; shipping and receiving knowledge a plus.
- Requires valid driving license and state-mandated background clearances.
- Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office, email communication systems and package scanning software.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources.
