What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants & Community Events Coordinator position at Merchants Bank of Indiana?
Description
As part of the Affordable Lending Team, our Grants and Community Events Coordinator will work to execute on the Affordable Lending workplan goals to administer the following: grant and assistance programs through Merchants Bank and Federal Home Loan Bank of Indiana (FHLB); budgeted funds for sponsorships and charitable contributions to community partners; coordinate community outreach events and activities and financial education classes.
After one year as our Grants and Community Events Coordinator, you will know you were successful if you are able to handle the following confidently and independently.
Grants and assistance
- Work with the FHLB system to request and record applications for grants
- Work with Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) to process and submit grant applications
- Work with mortgage operations team to record applications for DPA
- Work with mortgage operations to receive and record closing documentation in GIVEs
- Maintain knowledge of grant and assistance programs through FHLB and Merchants announcements and trainings
- Work with community partners to identify strategic opportunities to deploy homeowner repairs grants within their neighborhoods and priority homeowners
- Work with homeowners and contractors to manage grant repair projects
- Work through accounting to request payment to contractors
- Maintain complete file documentation and notes on grant and assistance files
- Report within the Kadince system the hours worked on grants per defined process hours
- Report grants and assistance numbers to management weekly during grant season and at year end
Contributions and sponsorships
- Receive and process requests from community partners per the Affordable Lending Team’s workplan budget, in the Kadince system
- Review requests outside the workplan budget with management
- Document and maintain request information
- Report contribution and sponsorship submissions to management monthly
Community Events
- Coordinate the scheduling of community events on the team calendar and reserve the facility
- Work with Marketing & Communications Coordinator, the affordable lending team and other bank staff to gather and schedule volunteers to staff the events
- Coordinate with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to maintain the supply of event giveaways, prizes and flyers per approved budget
- Pack and deliver event items – giveaways, flyers, prizes, tablecloth, chairs, tarp etc. as required by event logistics and staff needs
- Take, request and share with management event pictures
- Coordinate set up and tear down at event location
- Report on events to management monthly
Training
- Maintain training curricula and update as programs, data, guidelines, etc.
- Develop industry knowledge on a continuing basis via agency, MI company, industry news, demographics, etc.
- Work with our marketing team to build new training materials as needed
- Schedule facility, calendars and presenters for and with community partners for virtual and in-person training sessions
- Organize facility, food, paperwork, prizes, etc. for training sessions
Requirements
What we are looking for...
- Minimum 2 years mortgage banking/lending experience, OR 2 years affordable housing background in some facet of the affordable lending/housing industry
- Microsoft proficient – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Ability to work some evening and/or weekend
- Owns a reliable mode of transportation
