Description
As the Sponsor Credit Review Lead, you play a critical role in the development and growth of a new platform responsible for ongoing credit analysis and performance monitoring of Merchants Bank's portfolio of Investment Real Estate Sponsors. The SCR Lead will oversee the monitoring and collecting of financial reporting including, but not limited to, annual income statements, balance sheets, real estate owned schedules, and tax returns.

- Manage, develop, and guide the SCR team.
- Lead hiring efforts to make sure the SCR team is appropriately staffed.
- Interface with management and external parties including regulators, in detail regarding the Bank’s sponsors and the data points supporting their sponsor reviews.
- Develop reporting for management that can accurately represent the quality of Sponsors MBI does business with
- Maintain and improve the SCR team’s ability to:
- Accurately monitor ongoing financial reporting requirements for Sponsors.
- Communicate with Sponsors directly when additional items or clarifications are required.
- Support the Sponsor Credit Review Specialists with annual Sponsor Grading.
- Assist in the financial analysis of a Sponsor, including quantity and types of liquidity, the performance of their obligations within and outside of Merchants, the number and amount of contingent obligations, the degree of financial leverage, willingness and ability to meet the bank’s requests, and global debt service coverage.
- Assist in the completion of annual Sponsor Credit Reviews for select sponsors.
- Compile documents for ad hoc document requests by regulators or auditors.
- Assist in pulling due diligence documentation for upcoming securitization efforts by Capital Markets.
What we are looking for…
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance preferred.
- Prior experience reviewing and analyzing corporate and individual financial statements required.
- Strong analytical skills paired with an ability to make decisions and provide guidance when presented with imperfect information.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office & Outlook.
- Strong time management and organizational skills and a detailed approach to completing daily tasks.
- Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data quickly and take action to assist the team in moving transactions forward.
