Merchants Bank is seeking an experienced Credit Analyst. This on-site position can work from any of our Merchants Bank locations in MN and WI.
Primary duties include analyzing moderate to complex financial statements and tax returns accompanying a loan request. Other responsibilities include financial statement spreading, data analysis highlighting borrowing entity key ratios and financial trends, as well as efficiently preparing the final loan request presentation. Other main responsibilities include collaboratively working with loan officers and lending assistants, developing a sound understanding and adherence of the bank's loan policies/procedures, as well as serving as a mentor to others within Credit Administration.
Prefer BS/BA Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance. Strong analytical skills; excellent people skills. Prior experience of 5 years in lending, underwriting, accounting, or trend analysis preferred with additional background in either a Commercial or Agriculture lending environment also deemed helpful. Strong verbal and written communication skills needed along with a “can do” attitude. In working with others across the bank, the incumbent must possess a very positive and helpful attitude with the ability at times to meet aggressive deadlines.

First preference would be working within the Merchants Bank Plaza Building in Winona MN, however other working environment within the Merchants Bank footprint would be considered after successful onboarding and assimilation to the organization.

- Complete an interpretive analysis of financial statements for loan relationships and prepare loan presentations for the successful approval of commercial and agriculture loans. This includes developing credit information for use by lending officers or committees in making lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
- Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information, including credit bureau reports, financial reports, cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, and reports information to lending officers.
- May additionally be asked to complete credit scoring reports for small business loans and complete presentations for loan relationships of $500,000 or less.
- May additionally perform administrative duties as it relates to supporting SBA lending. This may include reviewing and analyzing credit and financial information and ensuring compliance with SBA requirements.
- Attends customer calls with lending officers from time to time as requested by the lending officer.
