Merchants Fleet is seeking an Assistant Director of Accounting to lead our Accounting team within the Planning, Analysis & Consulting (FPAC) group. Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters in Hooksett, NH
Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Director of Accounting / Assistant Controller, you will:
- Oversee the integrity and documentation of transactions within the accounting cycle.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team to achieve exceptional results.
- Conduct account reconciliations and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
- Research and apply accounting standards, preparing internal white papers as needed.
- Collaborate with FP&A and other teams to maintain accurate financial statements.
- Drive the successful completion of annual audits.
- Participate in and lead special projects, including process improvements and internal controls.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a fast learner, a strategic thinker, and a natural leader. You possess:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to work with large datasets.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- A can-do attitude, intellectual curiosity, and adaptability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP and experience designing and implementing internal controls.
- A knack for streamlining processes and building consensus across teams.
Experience & Education
- A minimum of 8 years in public/private accounting and financial management.
- Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience (CPA preferred; MBA or MSA a plus).
