We are looking for an experienced SBA 7a Business Development Officer located in the Southeastern United States with the following:

Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer is responsible for oversight of all aspects of customer relationships including business development, risk management, operations, underwriting, and relationship management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct business development activities to generate new fee income to meet department and individual goals.
- Prospect, market, structure and originate new SBA 7(a) and USDA Loans
- Establish and maintain a network of referral sources able to bring potential SBA borrowers to the bank.
- Prescreen loans with knowledge of SBA for proper structure
,and eligibility with respect to the applicable loan program. - Identify opportunities to solve client issues by obtaining sufficient information from applicants to analyze the loan request appropriately.
- Obtain complete financial packages from borrowers and prepare submission packages required for credit analysis. Follow up with borrowers to obtain additional information or clarification to ensure timely loan decisions.
- Deliver approved loan packages to borrowers to obtain required signatures and facilitate funding.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of SBA products as well as knowledge of competitors and competitive products.
- Maintain continual dialogue and close working relationships with other bank officers, centers of influence, referral resources, etc.
- Responsible for assisting clients through the end-to-end loan process, assisting internal team members with obtaining all necessary documentation needed to close the transaction, and to follow up on any exceptions or account matters.
- Understand what differentiates Voyager Lending to develop a unique sales approach that sets you apart in the marketplace.
- Ensure that all activities and work functions comply with bank policies and procedures, state/federal laws and regulations and the SBA’s standard operating procedures and the code of Federal Regulations, thus protecting continuous status as a Preferred Lender under the PLP program.
- Stay abreast of current and developing regulations as they apply to the SBA lending area.
- Negotiate on behalf of the bank and the borrower while appropriately balancing risk and shareholder value.
- Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of your duties and responsibilities as it relates to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML), Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations (OFAC). This includes participating in any required training course and promptly complying with all reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of and adherence to EEO/AA policy; promote a working environment free of harassment of any type.
- All other duties as directed by the President of Voyager Lending.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business finance or related field preferred.
- Documented background in banking/financial institution’s government guaranteed lending program.
- 3 years as an SBA Business Development Officer
- Prior knowledge of all government guaranteed lending products including SBA 7(a), SBA Express, SBA Small Loan, and USDA.
- Excellent written, communication, presentation, analytical and organizational skills.
- Effectively partner and communicate with internal departments, and customers
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Working Conditions
- The employee is frequently required to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, and/or other office equipment.
- The employee frequently exchanges information with others and must be able to do so in an effective manner. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and across a variety of audiences.
- The employee may frequently move items up to 20 pounds and occasionally move items up to 40 pounds.
- The employee may frequently reach for files, books, and comparable items in high or low places and must have the ability to bend, stoop, or reach.
- The typical schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Overtime or extended hours may be occasionally required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
