Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for assisting in month-end close, account reconciliations, and approving A/P.
Essential Functions:
Reviews reconciliation of daily cash activity between internal AR & AP reports from the ERP system and transaction details from online banking systems (7 bank accounts across 5 operating companies and 4 financial institutions, some international and some local currency).
Works with local office AR Staff and Corporate AP team to resolve issues.
Reconciles month-end bank statements to GL balances, including preparing Journal Entries for recording cash movements between accounts, bank fees, and interest.
Assists in the monthly financial closing process, recording standard journal entries, account analysis & support.
Maintains a strong internal control environment with emphasis on standardizing business transactions, and monitoring routines performed by field personnel.
Regularly interact and respond to the needs and requests of internal customers such as General Managers, process owners (AR, AP, Payroll, IT, etc.), functional supervisors, and operations staff in a timely and professional manner.
Assists in preparation for annual financial statements and bank audits, and other compliance projects.
Approves A/P in an accurate and timely manner.
Files taxes so that all requirements are met while avoiding overpayment.
Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others courteously and professionally.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
Three or more years of post-collegiate work experience in an accounting/reporting role.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software with Advanced MS Excel skills.
Prior accounting experience, preferably in a food distribution environment.
Experience with SAP/Oracle/Great Plains or other large ERP accounting systems.
Experience working in a multi, location-based organization with company roll-up and consolidations is preferred, international exposure.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
