At Merck Sharp & Dohme, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Scientist to lead our analytical team in the Process Research and Development organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and management to a team of scientists embedded with the chemical biotechnologies group.
The Principal Scientist will report to the Data Rich Measurements (DRM) Lead and will be accountable for delivering analytical methodologies and platforms that accelerate the pace of enzyme discovery, evolution, and manufacturing. This role requires strong external networking skills, as well as a commitment to advancing an internal culture of scientific excellence and collaboration.
A PhD in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Chemical Biology or related field with 7-10 years of relevant industry experience is required. Alternatively, an MS degree with 10 years of relevant industry experience can be considered. Direct people management or scientific supervisory experience is essential. Formal training and hands-on experience in high-throughput analytical and bioanalytical methodologies, including various chromatographic techniques and hyphenated techniques, is also required.
