Job Description:
Cerchemical Engineering Research & Development (CERD) is seeking a highly motivated and technically focused individual to lead the Crystallization Lab. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure small molecule Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) processes meet target yield, purity, and physical attributes for clinical programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Crystallization Lab team to develop crystallization processes for small molecule APIs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale up and transfer crystallization processes from laboratory to pilot plant or production scale
• Develop and implement innovative processes and technologies to improve crystallization efficiency and product quality
• Mentor junior engineers and drive departmental initiatives
• Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)
Requirements:
• BS/MS in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or equivalent with 15 years of relevant work experience, or PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering with 12 years of relevant work experience
• Proven track record of scientific excellence, including scientific publications and external conference presentations
• Experience with process scale-up and technology transfer of small molecule crystallization
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with drying process development and optimization
• Familiarity with concepts and application of cGMP and GDP during pharmaceutical development and production
• Knowledge of particle engineering approaches and their applications in API development
