Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
The Operations Manager oversee operating staff to support commercial demand in a manufacturing facility, including training, development, and engagement of staff to assure optimal quality and quantity of finished products. This position will require off-shift or weekend coverage based on business unit needs and specific assignments.
Manage team of hourly union technicians directly involved in manufacturing operations as first-line supervisor
Foster a culture of safety, quality, productivity, reliability, continuous improvement, and right first-time by identifying, evaluating, planning, and executing on production schedule while overseeing daily operator/maintenance work
Ensure compliance with standards and adherence to company, regulatory agency, state/local code, quality, GMP, EEO, labor, environmental, and safety requirements
Lead and participate in safety, environmental, and quality audits and investigations and implementation of related corrective actions
Complete time/attendance approval and ensure payroll accuracy
Review and approve technical and manufacturing documents such as, but not limited to: SOPs, batch records, safety assessments, and training plans/documents
Develop, support and partake in risk assessments, impact assessments, task execution, implementation
Remove obstacles from shop floor via troubleshooting, problem solving, and escalating issues as needed
Examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people) to best comprehend and resolve the root cause
Develop and assure consistent application of standardized work, engineering, and process tools
Minimum Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or another technical field with
Four years of relevant experience in manufacturing or the military OR Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a direct GMP, biotechnology manufacturing setting with demonstrated leadership skills. OR High School Diploma/GED with six years of relevant experience in manufacturing or military service
Willing and able to work off-shifts and weekends as needed.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Record of safely and effectively leading teams in the manufacturing of high-quality product
Consistent demonstration of strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, technical, and problem-solving skills to motivate direct reports and peers to excel and "own" the process
Lean, Six Sigma problem solving skills coupled with a continuous improvement mindset
Ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain business results
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Technical writing experience related to procedures and investigations
SAP, MES and DeltaV experience is an advantage
