What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trade Finance Officer position at Mercuria?

Responsibilities :

Issuance of Standby / Documentary Letters of Credit and related amendments.
Monitor and Process Standby Letters of Credit with auto-renewal clauses (Evergreen).
Requesting Standby / Documentary Letters of Credit from Counterparties.
Processing automatic payment reductions / cancellations related to Standby Letters of Credit.
Processing of external / internal transactional financing (i.e. vessels, pipelines, and storage).
Monitoring of related commodity contracts, shipment schedules and associated trade documentation.
Processing fees internally and externally, including calculation and reconciliation of billing.
Address and resolve routine inquires.
Build and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders and other strategic units.
Assignment of various projects as directed by Head of Trade Finance NA or Group Head.

Technical Qualifications :

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in international trade finance and / or letter of credit operations with at least 2 years in commodities.

Working knowledge of trade finance transactions, Standby letter of credit language negotiation and issuance.

Working knowledge of the UCP600 and ISP 98 and the ability to apply it when needed.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be detail oriented and accurate in a deadline driven, multitask oriented environment.

Metal experience is a plus.

Non-technical qualifications (e.g. managerial) :

Good team work, communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with counterparties and all internal stakeholders.

Solid background knowledge of Trade Finance / Trade Services products, risk management, corporate finance and international economics.

Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of the commodities sector.

Self-motivated with initiative to take on new and additional responsibilities.

Basic knowledge of Borrowing Base and Bilateral facility financing and other working capital facilities.
