Construction Inspector

Position Summary: The Construction Inspector at Mercury Broadband provides primary field supervision of outsourced fiber optic network construction, both aerial and underground. This role involves ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met while complying with regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Construction Coordinator, the Construction Inspector is the face of Mercury Broadband for field coordination with contractor construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:
- Track performance of outsourced construction projects, ensuring compliance with required documentation, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Conduct project walkouts to assess planned construction site, project timeline, and budget.
- Support internal project management teams, including managing permitting and other pre-construction requirements as needed.
- Communicate project updates to the Construction Coordinator, tracking timelines and any changes affecting project scope or costs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry regulations.
- Complete all project documentation and accurate closeout packages.
Quality Control Activities:
- Performing project site surveys as needed, checking depth on underground and attachment, height, with aerial installations of strand, fiber optic cables.
- Establishing reports and providing status updates to management personnel..
- Managing contractor crews as needed for safety concerns
- Reviewing maps for pre-construction walkouts.
- Database management: importing and assigning projects in the database system to contractors, maps pictures off of PDF Expert.
- Tracking and reporting deployment activity to the construction coordinators.
- Tracking and reporting vendor invoicing/ as-builds/ change orders. And making sure construction dailies are turned in by the end of business each day.
- Performing other duties as assigned by Mercury Broadband
Skills and Requirements:
- Experience in fiber optic network construction inspection.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate independently and coordinate with external contractors to conduct and document site inspections accurately.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local construction regulations.
- Proficiency with project management software, Vitruvi preferred.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and contractor performance monitoring.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Relevant experience in construction management or a related field.
- Prior experience overseeing contractor compliance and managing construction timelines.
- Understanding of construction project budgeting and scheduling.
