What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator - Manufacturing position at Mercury Corporation?
Summary:
Analyzes blueprints, drawings, models, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products and/or projects. This includes quotation of new products, existing products, and engineering changes.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews customer drawings, engineering data and specifications and compiles list of materials, parts, tools, and equipment required for manufacturing items.
- Creates production Bill of Materials for quoting.
- Determines material requirements for fabricating parts, considering size, cutting, and forming involved
- Uses standards to estimate labor requirements using work centers including fabrication, weld, finishing, paint, assembly, and packaging, miscellaneous operations and outside services.
- Reviews cost factors and analyzes most cost-efficient processes, including selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
- Participates with customers in Design-For-Manufacture exercises and process reviews to determine best process.
- Updates and alters existing quotations for price or efficiency updates, or engineering changes.
- Delivers final estimate to sales for submittal.
Qualification and Skills:
- Two-year college or technical school degree in engineering related field, three years of related experience, or adequate combination of education and experience preferred
- Ability to work within CAD/CAM software, Solidworks experience preferred
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and formulas required
- Experience working in a manufacturing setting, including knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong blueprint reading and math skills
- Time management skills to meet deadlines while ensuring work is error-free
- Ability to work successfully both individually and collaborate with a team
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (Semi-Flexible)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional loud noises. A representative wage range is included in this posting. Final wage will be based on experience.
