Mercury is an integrated manufacturing company that has been in Hammondsport, NY, for over 100 years. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Powder Coat Painter to join our team. The Powder Coat Painter will be responsible for applying powder coatings to various metal products, ensuring a high-quality finish that meets industry standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of coating techniques, and a commitment to producing top-notch products. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Apply powder coatings to metal surfaces using a variety of equipment and techniques, ensuring even coverage and a smooth finish
- Maintain and clean powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, and ovens, to ensure they operate efficiently and safely
- Inspect coated products for uniformity, thickness, and finish quality, making adjustments as necessary to meet customer specifications and quality standards
- Mix and match powder coating colors as required, ensuring accurate color consistency and appropriate texture
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols when working with hazardous materials, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Enter data to track results of production in company database
- Keep the powder coating area clean, organized, and free from any hazards to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Powder Coat Painter or in a similar role is preferred
- An excellent eye for detail to ensure a high-quality finish
- Familiarity with safety protocols for working with hazardous materials and machinery
- Physical Stamina to stand for extended periods and to lift heavy objects
- Willingness to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear, or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The use of a respirator is required when painting.
