What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner - Manufacturing position at Mercury Corporation?
Summary:
Compiles and prioritizes production schedules for each manufacturing department to ensure Sales department and customer requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
- Create BOMs and routings for all items in the shop in ERP system
- Work with production department to continuously verify all BOM and routing elements within the ERP system are validated to original quote, or updated as needed
- Review jobs released by planner(s) for accuracy and prioritize within each resource group to ensure on-time delivery for all products
- Compile and oversee the distribution of work schedules to shop floor manager for each shop floor department
- Adjust production schedule in response to changes in production demands
- Evaluate schedule and current shop floor capacities to advise if staffing level and equipment capacity is adequate to meet customer demands
- Maintain consistent communication with Sales department on status of all open orders
- Expedite when necessary to ensure parts flow through work centers
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or four-year certificate and 5 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ERP/MRP experience and extensive BOM development and management capabilities
- Blueprint reading strongly preferred
- High level of proficiency working electronically and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks at a moment’s notice
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on a team approach to foster positive relationships
- Willingness to work independently and in a group environment
- Energetic, self-motivated, and reliable with a proactive focus to drive continuous improvement
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional loud noises. A representative wage range is included in this posting. Final wage will be based on experience.
