Position Overview
The Director of Indirect Procurement will lead a high-performing global team responsible for all indirect procurement functions, including category management and strategic supplier partnerships. This dynamic leader will play a key role in setting the strategy and driving execution across a broad range of categories such as Transportation, Travel, Marketing, Facilities, Packaging, Print, CapEx, Services, MRO, and IT.
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead and mentor a talented group of procurement professionals across the Brunswick enterprise, with a strong emphasis on strategic sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration. Reporting into the Vice President of Global Supply Chain, the role is integral to driving operational excellence and aligning procurement strategies with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, representing the global Indirect Procurement function.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies to optimize indirect spend and drive value across categories.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for a global team of procurement professionals.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Legal, Plant Operations, IT, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, HR, and Finance to align procurement strategies with enterprise goals.
- Establish and manage a comprehensive supplier management framework focused on performance metrics, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the execution of strategic sourcing plans and major RFP initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings and value creation.
- Champion best-in-class procurement practices through strategic road mapping, operational KPIs, and SLA monitoring.
- Identify and cultivate strategic supplier relationships to support innovation, service excellence, and cost effectiveness.
- Oversee contract negotiations, terms, and vendor compliance across a wide range of complex agreements.
- Drive procurement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service levels.
- Collaborate with internal finance and legal partners on budget development, payment processes, and compliance controls.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
- Monitor indirect spend data and reporting to identify trends, optimize spend, and support business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement or related fields, with a strong emphasis on indirect sourcing and strategic supplier management.
- Proven track record of negotiating large, complex contracts and managing multi-million-dollar supplier relationships.
- Exceptional leadership and people development skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated success in driving cross-functional initiatives and organizational change.
- Experience with procurement systems and tools, with a focus on process improvement and spend analysis.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% as required
- Home office located in Brunswick Corporate Headquarters in Mettawa, IL with regular travel to Mercury Marine’s Global Headquarters in Fond du Lac, WI.
- Hybrid work environment with expectation to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per work week.
