What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Prin. Project Planner/Scheduler position at Mercury Systems?
As a Sr. Principal Project Planner/Scheduler working in an integrated product team (IPT), you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) using Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques. You will develop and maintain metrics for program execution and EVM compliance. You will manage the performance of multiple cross-functional teams led by program managers within the Business Unit (BU) through developing program plans to optimize performance and ensure programs meet internal and contractual requirements. You will be a part of a world-class integrated team for a critical program in our Space & Strategic Weapons line of business (LOB). We are an agile team focused on delivering innovative, high-quality products to our customers on time and on budget.
Job Responsibility
- Working with program teams to develop Microsoft Project (MSP) Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) that deliver solutions from design to release.
- Overseeing large or complex programs to ensure adherence to program plans, schedules, and budgets. Develop, define, and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Working with program teams to identify necessary resources for projects (resource planning)
- Monitor the work of program management staff and provide support and direction.
- Creating relationships with the BU leadership team and field-based employees.
- Driving continuous improvement to incite a Lean culture throughout the function.
- Identifying and helping manage program challenges and collaborating on solutions, such as allocating resources, changing contractual obligations, and supporting responses to customer needs.
- Collaborating with BU teams on the development of growth strategies.
- Participating, as necessary, in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operation budgets, and financial conditions of contracts.
- Providing inputs to Program Management/Capture leadership as part of strategic captures teams to ensure that Mercury delivers timely, compliant, cost-effective solutions to customers including the negotiation and closure of the business deal.
- Providing timely guidance into priority decisions concerning resources across competing priorities based upon program critical path and resource constraints.
- Coordination between the pricing and finance function, the contracts organization, and the proposal team to ensure that proposal schedules are met.
- Demonstrate a strategic approach to schedule development, administration, change management, and dispute resolution as a key contributor to the program management team.
- Identify and assess risks and opportunities against the execution or proposal baseline.
- Work with internal and outside counsel as well as executive-level business management on critical issues
- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably with a Business related degree
- Ideally 10 years in Program Planning / Master Planning experience
- Strong Earned Value Management (EVM) experience and integration with COBRA financial tools
- Aerospace & Defense Industry experience
- Experience reviewing proposals for adequacy/deliverability and translating into program plans/schedules
- Proficiency using MS Project (Server) to manage technical program schedules
- Experience running schedule risk analysis and schedule health checks
- This position requires you to have or the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens
- An Advanced Degree
- Professional Certification in EVMS
- Experience developing program plans/schedules to include commercial items sold to the Department of Defense
- Well-versed in Rolling Wave Planning
- Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, ITAR, and Export Regulations
- Ability to understand a broad portfolio, spanning multiple customers and product platforms, including hardware, software, and manufacturing
- Varied experience transitioning from the capture phase of a strategic program to the execution phase to deliver on business commitments and customer commitments
- Expertise in USG, International, and Commercial schedule management
- Experience in schedule development on all contract types; FFP, FPIF, CPFF, CPAR, T&M, IDIQ, and BOA
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to lead teams in schedule development
- This position is hybrid can be located in our Hudson, NH or our Cypress, CA location.
Full-Time Equivalent Annual Salary Range: $116,500 - $227,700 for an E5 in Cypress, CA USA.
The disclosed salary range is a general guideline for Mercury team members employed at the job level at the location listed above and does not include overtime for eligible hourly employees.
