What are the responsibilities and job description for the Girls' Program Assistant position at Mercy Education Project?
Mercy Education Project (MEP) provides educational services for underserved girls living primarily in southwest Detroit. Under the supervision of the Director of Girls’ Programming, the Girls’ Program Assistant is responsible for greeting the girls upon arrival; warming, serving and cleaning up dinner; assisting with preparation and implementation of Activity Time; and other related duties.
This position is Monday-Thursday from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm (20 hours/week) from September through May and flexible hours during the summer and on school breaks. Occasional weekend availability is required.
Summary of Main Responsibilities:
- Follow ServSafe guidelines to warm, serve, and clean up dinner
- Assist with the prepping and implementation of Activity Time’s STEM and Health Literacy topics
- Assist with summer camps and field trips
- Assist with other tasks as directed to promote and support the operation and success of the Girls’ Program
- Substitute tutor as needed
- Aid in student recruitment and registration
Required Qualifications/Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team
- Experience in building rapport and working with students
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing
- Organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to adapt to daily programming needs or changes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting as required
