Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage medical scheduling, including appointment bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling.
- Perform insurance verification to ensure patient coverage prior to appointments.
- Assist with documentation review to maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide medical administrative support by answering phone calls, responding to inquiries, and directing calls as necessary.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks and Meditech for patient data management.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient flow within the clinic.
- Support coding processes by understanding ICD-9 coding requirements when necessary.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical scheduling and familiarity with healthcare software (e.g., Meditech, eClinicalWorks).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review.
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Understanding of basic coding practices related to ICD-9 is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is an advantage.
