What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telesitter Observer- Mercy West position at Mercy Health BSMH?
The TeleSitter Observer provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors; summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance; knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys Telesitter Software
Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over a digital 2-way device, Immediately summons the nursing staff if patient requires assistance
Participates in hand-off information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving and at completion of shift
Provides patients with explanation as necessary, but does not counsel or provide options.
Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes; follows safety rules
Completes written documentation of patient activity every hour. Maintains records of service calls to Avasys when monitors are not functioning
High School Diploma or GED Required
Previous direct patient care experience, customer friendly
Able to follow detailed written and oral instructions, efficiency in multitasking, basic telephone etiquette, the ability to communicate with patients using microphone and headset
