Lead EVS Tech
Job Summary:
Provides leadership and direction to the Environmental Services Team. Responsible for all related housekeeping duties necessary within the Environmental Services Department scope of service and areas of responsibility. Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, clean and sanitary environment. Reports maintenance related items for repair.
Essential Job Functions
Maintains a clean and dust-free environment to assist in infection control. Cleans assigned and specialized areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods. Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specified bags or containers. Utilizes, dilutes, stores, transports and disposes of chemicals according to manufacturer specifications and department procedures. Follows universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and uses personal protective equipment as needed. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Assists in cleaning emergency spills that are observed or reported.
Assures daily staffing levels to meet department guidelines; assigns daily work; tours facility to verify that all work assignments have been completed and identified opportunities for improvement; assures all standards for environment of care are met; orients, trains and evaluates new and existing staff members ensuring competency is maintained; assists the Manager with completing the initial and annual performance evaluations for new and existing employees; completes required reports; participates in coordinating, doing and completing special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new patient.
Attends all mandatory and assigned meetings. Enhanced growth and development through in-service and educational programs.
Education:
- High School Degree or GED preferred
Experience:
- 2 years' experience in Housekeeping or Environmental Service department, preferably in an acute hospital environment
Skills & Abilities:
- Able to write and understand written and oral instructions; able to supervise a team of people and be flexible with workload demands
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
- Able to use housekeeping equipment
