What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Scheduling Rep - Per Diem position at Mercy Health?
The Scheduling Representative obtains demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information in the process of appointment making for patient tests and procedures. Based on local MO scheduling structure, may also perform pre-registration activity and respond to real-time eligibility verification. Incumbent provides instructions to the patient on test preparation; prints and mails patient itineraries if lead time is sufficient. Validates medical necessity (LMRP/LCD review) of Medicare and Non-Medicare cases to ensure clinical and financial clearance. Obtains and processes signed physician orders to ensure clinical documentation for care delivery. Must possess a working knowledge of medical terminology, and data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minutes), as normally obtained through a high school diploma and/or associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Past work experience of at least two (2) years within a physician office, hospital or clinic environment, performing patient scheduling activities is highly desired. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with peers, internal, and external customers. Accuracy, attentiveness to detail and time management skills are required. To successfully accomplish the essential job functions of this position, the incumbent will be required to work independently, read, write, and operate keyboard and telephone effectively. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
