SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The TeleSitter Observer works under the direction of the Manager and/or their designee. The TeleSitter Observer provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors; summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance; knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
EDUCATION:
· High School Diploma/GED.
· Heartsaver certifications required.
EXPERIENCE:
· Previous direct patient care experience
· Customer friendly
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Follows detailed written and oral instructions.
· Requires basic reading, writing and simple arithmetic skills.
· Basic computer operation skills.
· Basic Microsoft Windows experience.
· Basic telephone etiquette.
· Capable of continuous monitoring of up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
· Ability communicate effectively with patients using microphone and headset.
· Ability to communicatte with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
· Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, staff.
· Efficiency in multittasking.
· Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
Problem Solving/Decision Making:
· Work is routine.
· Makes decisions bsed on detailed procedures; floor staff general available.
· Clear cut alternatives are available and usually follows a specific course of action based on patient response.
Scope of Impact/Accountability:
· Impact is generally focused on the immediate observed work area. May also affect closely related activities in other work areas or teams on a temporary basis.
· Influence is indirect and supportive in nature.
· Accountability is restricted.
· Activities are usually assigned by others.
Interpersonal Communication:
· Works independently, but as part of a team in same work area.
· Interactions are generally brief, professional.
· Requires an assertive voice and common courtesy.
