Hospitalist or Intensivist in house : Yes - only use MD's in the ER
IV Team : No
RT 24 / 7 : Yes
Pharmacy 24 / 7 : Yes & Omnicell
Floating could happen between the 2 facilities to the ER. If floated prior to shift, would get a 2 hour notice prior start. Midshift floating could happen.
Floor specific orientation : 2 shifts at the primary campus & 1 shift at the other campus.
Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Less peds than Mercy Southwest campus. This campus has CDCR (correctional patients) officer comes from the prison & stays with them. All OB are transferred to the other campus. A little more homeless & indigent population here. No cardiac patients. These would be stabilized & transferred out.
This must be their primary job. They will not work around another work schedule to accommodate hours. Must be very teamwork oriented. They treat between 85 - 115 patients per day with an average of 100 patients per day.
