Pay: $26.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Job Summary: The Navigation Supervisor provides leadership and support to a team of approximately 5–7 Navigators, while also maintaining a small caseload of clients as needed. This role ensures that the Navigation team delivers high-quality, trauma-informed, and client-centered services—including ongoing needs assessments, personal housing plan assistance, and advocacy. The Supervisor collaborates with the Regional Director of Navigation Services to identify challenges and implement effective solutions, promoting strong, values-driven team performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Housing Navigation
- Maintain a caseload of 5–7 clients and meet with them based on individualized needs
- Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills to support the agency’s mission and core values
- Apply harm reduction principles and client-centered approaches in service delivery
- Utilize crisis prevention and intervention skills to support clients
- Empower clients to recognize their strengths and needs in a respectful, supportive manner
- Stay informed on community resources and make referrals as appropriate
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, including service plans and case notes in systems such as CalOptima Connect
- Facilitate regular case conferencing with shelter operations teams to ensure alignment and address complex cases
- Complete required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner to ensure funding and program compliance
Team Management
- Supervise and support 5–7 Navigators to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Train and mentor new team members, offering guidance on day-to-day responsibilities
- Conduct quarterly quality reviews of case files to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Provide hands-on support and guidance in navigating complex client situations
- Coordinate ongoing training and orientation for staff
- Conduct 90-day probationary reviews and annual performance evaluations
- Approve time-off requests and monitor mileage reimbursements
- Review and process client financial assistance requests as needed
- Ensure consistent documentation and compliance with program contracts and internal policies
- Oversee data entry accuracy in systems such as HMIS and CES
- Foster a professional, safe, and collaborative team environment
Miscellaneous
- Support the Emergency Shelter Program Manager in daily operations during absences
- Attend internal staff meetings and external community meetings as assigned
- Participate in relevant trainings to enhance service delivery skills
- Collaborate with Shelter Program Managers to support shelter operations as needed
- Demonstrate willingness to learn about mental health services, substance use treatment, and adult rehabilitative care
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall program and organizational goals
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of 1 year working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living with mental health conditions
- Candidates without a degree but with 2 years of lived or direct experience serving homeless or low-income communities are encouraged to apply
- Strong understanding of mental health and recovery preferred
- Experience in crisis intervention required; management experience preferred
