Job Overview
Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in a school setting, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform various cleaning tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming floors to ensure they are well-maintained and presentable.
• Conduct commercial and industrial cleaning duties, ensuring all areas are sanitized and free from debris.
• Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, classrooms, and common areas by restocking supplies and performing deep cleaning as needed.
• Assist with facilities maintenance tasks as required, including minor repairs or reporting larger issues to management.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to complete larger cleaning projects or special requests from management.
• Provide porter services by moving furniture or equipment as needed during events or maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in custodial or commercial cleaning roles is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with industrial cleaning practices and safety protocols is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good physical stamina; ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods while performing cleaning duties.
• A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent service in all aspects of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
