Athletic Director/Full-Time: The Athletic Director of Mercy McAuley High School provides leadership and expertise to achieve the fullest attainment of the mission and vision and to continue the charism of the Sisters of Mercy in the school. The Athletic Director serves as a role model for students, works synergistically with faculty and staff and is responsible for providing direction and coordination of all athletic events. The Athletic Director should be passionate and a dynamic leader overseeing a robust athletic program.
Accountability: The Athletic Director reports to, is supervised and evaluated by the Principal.
Supervises: The Athletic Director supervises coaches.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Students
Ensure the development and implementation of policies regarding player academic
eligibility.
Work with coaches and teachers to promote academic performance by athletes.
Provides leadership and guidance for all sports at Mercy McAuley.
Provides leadership and guidance for all coaches and athletes.
Attend competitions and practices for all sports on a regular basis.
Interact in a positive and professional manner daily with students, parents, faculty and
support staff of Mercy McAuley High School.
Work with the athletic trainer to ensure proper treatment of athletes is being adhered.
Maintain a safe environment for students and spectators at athletic events.
Supervises the purchase and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities (gym,
equipment rooms, fitness room and storage areas.)
Oversee the training of volunteers that assist in all areas related to athletics.
Mediates any disputes arising between coaches, athletes, and/or parents.
Administrative:
Responsible for coordination, management, and oversight of all sports, including sub- varsity levels, and intramural sports.
Thorough understanding of OHSAA and GGCL procedures and regulations and ensure
compliance.
Manages all athletic events including set up of venues, cleanup of venues, coordination
of officials and team, scheduling of transportation and game day management.
Schedules with the maintenance staff (TDG), the regular cleaning and upkeep of the
athletic facilities.
Develop and implement policy and procedures which adhere to and promote the
mission of Mercy McAuley High School.
Motivate and mentors’ coaches and athletes.
Coordinates with coaches on game scheduling, practice sessions, and team travel.
Facilitate meetings between coaches and athletic department staff.
Manages all paperwork related to employment/certification of all coaches in a timely
manner.
Oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department.
Provides the Director of Marketing with updated information for social media and the
school website.
Prepare reports on team performance and needs for improvement.
Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure all facilities are safe and kept up.
Faculty and Supervision
Collaborate with the Principal on the hiring, training and separation of all coaches.
Supervises coaches and responsible for conducting evaluations at the end of each
season.
Works with the Principal in providing budget recommendations for athletic programs.
Manages the athletic department budget and operates within the budget guidelines.
Leads and plans the designated fundraising events.
Follow school procedures for money handling from admissions, concessions, and
fundraising.
Miscellaneous
- Represents the interests of the school to archdiocesan, local, regional, state and
