FINANCIAL ACCESS REP II

Summary

The Insurance Verification Representative is responsible for all registration and financially related data collection prior to a patient arriving at the facility or after arrival at the facility depending on your role in the department. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all insurance requirements to ensure precertification, referral & authorization is obtained from contracted payers. Acts as a resource in department and offices; sometimes preparing “help fact sheets” or training.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Education and Work Experience:
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• 2 years in health care registration setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:

• Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
• Microsoft Outlook
• Meditech (if applicable to position)
• Epic (if applicable to position)
• Performance Manager/NetLearning
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Other Requirements:
• Must possess skills in prioritization & organizational skills, multi-tasking, routine office skills, ie: copier/fax use, web based verification tools
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a hectic, often stressful, fast paced environment & deal with hostile people in a calm efficient manner.
• Must be able to accurately type 30 wpm
• May be expected to work outside routine scheduled shifts/days and in other areas of the department as needed.
