Summary
The Insurance Verification Representative is responsible for all registration and financially related data collection prior to a patient arriving at the facility or after arrival at the facility depending on your role in the department. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all insurance requirements to ensure precertification, referral & authorization is obtained from contracted payers. Acts as a resource in department and offices; sometimes preparing “help fact sheets” or training.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- 2 years in health care registration setting preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Meditech (if applicable to position)
- Epic (if applicable to position)
- Performance Manager/NetLearning
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Other Requirements:
- Must possess skills in prioritization & organizational skills, multi-tasking, routine office skills, ie: copier/fax use, web based verification tools
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a hectic, often stressful, fast paced environment & deal with hostile people in a calm efficient manner.
- Must be able to accurately type 30 wpm
- May be expected to work outside routine scheduled shifts/days and in other areas of the department as needed.
- Can prioritize responsibilities and work independently.
