Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Tennessee Nursing License, or Associate of Science in Nursing, must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
In the Medical Services Manager position, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Resident Medical Care
- Ensure compliance with Licensure Regulations for Childcare Agencies and Maternity Homes set by Tennessee Department of Human Services
- Audit all resident medications upon entry and dismissal
- Evaluate medical complaints, determine treatment options, and provide basic medical care
- Stay informed of medical needs/concerns: follow-up on resident complaints and treatment plans
- Supervise maintenance and organization of all medical records
- Oversee maintenance and distribution of all prescription and over-the-counter medications according to Mercy protocol and state licensing standards
- Assist pregnant residents in obtaining TennCare (Tennessee Medicaid insurance)
- Communicate resident medical intervention to pertinent staff; update medical portion of Shift Change daily
- Participate in Wellness Team Meetings and Wellness Meetings with residents when needed
- Lead Wellness Class on Major Cleaning Day in rotation with Fitness/Nutrition staff
- Complete medical evaluations for all new residents
- Manage crises during Day Shift with Director of Home Operations, Program Director, and Director of Counseling
- Consult with Nutrition/Fitness staff to set weight and nutrition guidelines for residents with eating disorders
Coordinate with Medical Providers
- Schedule residents’ medical appointments with appropriate doctors; accompany residents to medical appointments; communicate doctor orders to pertinent staff and residents’ guardians when necessary
- Arrange and monitor in-house appointments with local psychiatric providers: ensure completion of new patient paperwork, notify pertinent staff and residents’ guardians of medication changes, create appointment schedule, gather payment, and any other related tasks
- Work closely with the local pharmacy to manage all resident prescriptions and medications and ensure doctors’ orders are followed; obtain prescription medication refills in a timely manner
Medical Department Management
- Work closely with Program Assistant concerning resident medical payments
- Communicate with the Intake Department when medical reviews are needed and upon request; field medical-related concerns of residents applying to Mercy
- Advise Nutrition Manager of any special dietary needs due to medical conditions and/or doctor’s instructions for individualized meal plans
- Advise Fitness Manager of any physical limitations due to medical conditions and/or doctor’s instructions for individualized fitness plans
- Must be responsible for safe transportation of residents when needed
- Assist Director of Home Operations, as needed
Schedule: 8:30 am- 4:00 pm Monday-Friday (35 hours/week)
Compensation: $30- $31/hour

These residential services are offered free-of-charge. The Mercy Multiplied Center for Wellness and Counseling is Mercy’s free-of-charge Outpatient counseling Program for men and women aged 13 and older. Our Outreach Services train and resource men and women to effectively support and minister to those who are hurting and struggling through workshops, videos, podcasts, discipleship teaching, and other practical resources.
