Nutrition and Fitness Manager

Education: Must have a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences, or related field. Masters Degree in Nutrition and Exercise Sciences preferred
Skills: Strong background in nutrition and fitness; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); exceptional organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must have a thorough understanding of, and dedication to, the vision of Mercy Multiplied, along with demonstrated Christian work ethics.
In the Nutrition and Fitness Manager position, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Develop and Maintain Food Programs for Residents
- Collaborate with residents’ primary counselor and Licensed Dietitian to address any specific dietary needs or meal plans as necessary
- Develop individualized meal plans and provide basic nutrition education to each resident
- Develop ongoing community resources/opportunities for residents in the area of nutrition
- Monitor lunch and snack per schedule
- Communicate any pertinent nutritional information to night/weekend staff as needed
- Participate in monthly check-ins with Licensed Dietitian to review nutrition department updates, ongoing care plans, and goals for residents
- Collaborate with Medical Services Manager and Licensed Dietitian as needed to discuss and manage residents with weight-related goals, health challenges, special dietary needs due to medical conditions, prescribed medications with dietary restrictions, or any instructions from residents’ doctors
Source Healthy Food and Purchase for Nashville Home
- Research sources of healthy food, obtain approval of menus and recipes from Licensed Dietitian, and disseminate information to other homes as needed
- Keep inventory of food supplies; make grocery lists; order/purchase food from selected vendors and grocers on a weekly basis
- Oversee meal preparation for lunch and dinner and check work details in the kitchen and dining room for all meals
Maintain Kitchen, Health Codes and Licensing Standards
- Stay abreast of current research on nutrition and wellness; Follow guidelines set by the State of Tennessee or local governing body; Attain continual education in areas of Nutrition and Health
- Meet with Health Inspector when visits occur and make improvements, communicate needs as needed
- Consult with Director of Home Operations for kitchen repairs and improvements
- Assure that kitchen details are completed properly within the health codes
Fitness Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Direct Recreational Activities
- Monitor resident’s levels of fitness and wellness
- Communicate all individualized fitness plans to Medical Services Manager and Licensed Dietitian
- Teach fitness/recreational classes and plan monthly recreational schedule
- Escort residents to local gym or park for recreation
- Complete resident fitness evaluations within their first week, 30- and 90-day marks, and in preparation for graduation
- Oversee the maintenance of fitness equipment
- Maintain resources for the home regarding fitness
- Create opportunities within the community for residents to expand fitness levels
- Create individualized aftercare fitness plans for each resident
Inter-Departmental/Home Coordination
- Participate in weekly Team Meeting, updating nutrition and fitness information as needed
- Consult with Medical Services Manager and Licensed Dietitian to set weight and nutrition goals, and address any special physical needs/limitations due to medical conditions and/or doctors’ instructions
- Collaborate with the Medical Services Manager and Licensed Dietitian to set weight, nutrition, and exercise goals for eating disorder residents
- Notify staff of any exercise restrictions for residents
- Document and inform staff of any noteworthy events that occur during fitness (e.g., injuries, level of participation, inappropriate behavior, etc.)
- Participate in Wellness Meetings with the Medical Services Manager, and primary Counselor (include Licensed Dietitian when needed)
- Provide safe transportation for residents as needed
- Assist Development Assistant and Development Team in set-up and tear-down of community events occurring in the Home
- Assist with other household duties and responsibilities whenever needed
Schedule: 8:30AM-5:00PM M-F (30-minute breaks), 40 hours/week
Compensation: $23 - $24/hour

Mercy’s Residential counseling Program is voluntary, biblically-based, and helps young women ages 13–32 break free from life-controlling issues and situations, including anxiety, depression, abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, addictions, unplanned pregnancy, and sex trafficking. These residential services are offered free-of-charge. The Mercy Multiplied Center for Wellness and Counseling is Mercy’s free-of-charge Outpatient counseling Program for men and women aged 13 and older. Our Outreach Services train and resource men and women to effectively support and minister to those who are hurting and struggling through workshops, videos, podcasts, discipleship teaching, and other practical resources.
