What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist position at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital – St. Louis?
Your Role as a Weekend Nights Charge Nurse
- You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and on holidays or when the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is not in the building.
- You will assess all departments to ensure continuity of care and report pertinent information to management and administration.
- Effective communication is crucial; you will promptly address unusual occurrences or complaints and intervene immediately when needed.
- You will oversee the nursing department staff to perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Appropriate documentation, including documentation of medical necessity, must be completed by staff in medical records; you will monitor completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
- You will review and evaluate risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes to continually improve performance and outcomes; this information will be communicated to the nursing department.
- You will ensure education and training are provided to nursing staff on Quality Indicators (QIs); timely and accurate QI assessments and scoring must be performed.
