Mercy Ridge Retirement Community is looking for an Activity Assistant who is caring, creative and enthusiastic to join our Assisted Living activities program. This is a part time non-exempt position working about six to thirteen hours per week, which includes some evenings and weekends. The Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development, organization, coordination and implementation of activity programs, which enrich the lives of residents.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for implementing and supervising designated programs and activities for the Assisted Living facility, able to select and schedule speakers, entertainers, community outreach groups, and serves as liaison between Dining Services and the Facilities Department regarding set-up and clean-up of resident activities.
- Assist with the planning and production of the monthly calendar, Ridge Review and daily postings, publicizing programs/activities for residents and staff.
- Preparing for activities by ordering/purchasing supplies in advance. Check the schedules of activities ahead of time to prepare with board games and supplies as needed.
- Responsible for the fitness programming in Assisted Living. Works with the Life Enrichment Manager and/or Fitness Coordinator to design the programs. Assists with teaching classes in Independent Living as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
- College graduate or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Position requires a minimum of one year experience in activity planning, preferably in a health care environment.
