What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry Technician position at Mercy Ridge Inc?
Mercy Ridge Retirement Community in Timonium, Maryland is seeking a Laundry Technician to join our team! This is a full time non-exempt position, which may include overtime on an as needed basis. Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services, the Laundry Technician is primarily responsible for the daily washing and drying of laundry, which includes personal garments, facility and residential linens and other laundry as assigned. Additionally, this position may be responsible for occasional housekeeping responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Washes, dries and folds resident laundry, as required, housekeeping mops and rags, etc. in a manner that will not damage equipment or items being processed.
- Sorts garments and contaminated linens, pre-rinses, treats and bleaches as necessary.
- Responsible for the proper operation and care of laundry equipment. Maintains a clean laundry work area and equipment.
- Provides support for cleanup of leaks, spills, floods, fire, etc.
- Is placed on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
- Position requires a minimum of one to three years experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hospitality or health care environment.
