Responsibilities
Come join our very fast paced 30-bed Ortho/Bariatric/Thoracic Surgical Unit! This Unit is situated in the New Tower of the Medical Center and houses a large population of joint replacement patients. This unit is proud to be a Center of Excellence for hip and knee replacement surgery designated by the Joint Commission. Our bariatric surgery patients are at the receiving end of our expertise as a result of our Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. The primary focus of this unit is orthopedic bariatric thoracic and general surgery patients. This dynamic Unit also has telemetry capability and utilizes all of the evidence-based practices of the Nursing Bundle.

Qualifications

Start date: Monday 4/1/2024
To qualify, must have CA RN license by 3/22/24
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
- Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
- BLS certification - American Heart Association
- Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
- Ability to:
- Deliver excellence in patient care through assessing formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing goals planning and implementing intervention and evaluating patient care outcomes.
- Read analyze and interpret hospital policies and procedures professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Write reports and procedures and document in the medical record.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers managers patients physicians family members and the general public.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as weights dosages flow rates proportions percentages and volume.
- Apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Critically think and problem solve.
- Read write and speak English.
- Must be able to complete entire program with a perfect attendance record
- Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing first 12 weeks
- Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
