Job Summary and Qualifications
The Executive Director Supply Chain Operations is responsible for the daily operations of all supply chain functions conducted within specific Mercy Communities; serving as the liaison between the Consolidated Service Center and the respected hospitals. The Executive Director is also responsible for recommending and developing process improvement initiatives that support the Unified Supply Chain efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, integration of supply chain services with the hospital’s primary functions, implementation of policies and procedures that guide or support services, assess and improve supply chain performance, and ensure orientation and continuing education of appropriate team members. This position works closely with ROi Senior Leadership, Mercy Strategic Supply Chain, and local facility leadership. Performs responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and service standards of Mercy Health and HealthTrust
What you will do in this role includes:
- Lead all areas of supply chain within facilities that are part of the East Communities to include procurement, receiving, order fulfillment, inventory management, courier services, record storage & retrieval as well as equipment management.
- Acts as a liaison to the ambulatory clinics and inpatient facilities with respect to supply chain management
- Ensures supply chain activities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for quality, service, and cost
- Communicates and implements goals and objectives for operations of reporting
- Manages sourcing and contracting initiatives from conception to completion; leveraging various internal and external contacts to ensure effective financial stewardship and responsive customer service
- Collaborates and develops strong working relationships with various department leaders, physician leaders, other clinicians, hospital senior management, and supply chain staff to create healthy markets and competitive sourcing environment

- Leads “time-limited/subject focused” teams and standing teams to identify opportunities to source and implement effective strategic sourcing and contracting strategies for major categories of Mercy Health spend
- Identifies and develops cost reduction ideas and initiatives, including alternative strategies for implementation consideration
- Engages suppliers and operational staff to ensure timely resolution of any service and delivery issues
- Assembles and presents business cases to include data analysis, supplier capabilities/differentiation, market data and business requirements
- Measures and monitors contract compliance and pending savings opportunities, supplier performance per contract service level agreements and realized cost savings. Reports on statistics to department leaders and senior leaders of the Mercy Community
- Participates in value analysis teams, stakeholders and department meetings representing the department, conveying the philosophy, and demonstrating the principles of supply chain management to user departments.
- Execute the infrastructure project plan for the facility. This includes the implementation of the standardization programs for all supply chain functions, master file standardization, online requisitioning, and EDI
- Manage the profit and loss of the facility Supply Chain operations.
- Manage disaster supplies and processes, ensuring facility/facilities are prepared for disaster
- Facilitate the implementation of market-based purchasing projects at the facility
- Execute the implementation and operational plan for all the point of use systems
- Oversight of Inventory Optimization Managers
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain, healthcare related focus - Required
- Master's degree - Preferred
- 7 years of experience in a leadership role – Required
- 10 years of experience in supply chain related activities – Required
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
