Shift: Part Time (24 Hours) - Nights

Overview:
Performs ECGs to obtain tracings from patients. Enters patient identification number into computer, logs tracings and performs some editing functions. Performs clerical duties in CVP department as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Education: Must be a high school graduate. Must show an aptitude for working with computers and computerized machines
- Certifications: Must be CPR certified.Other: Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
- Other: Previous medical experience and a working knowledge of medical terminology, cardiac anatomy/physiology and experience working with computerized equipment is helpful.
Job Description:
Demonstrates Mercy values of dignity, justice, stewardship, compassionate service and excellence.
Is responsive to and addresses complaints of/or the appearance of pain in patients.
Consistently performs quality routine and specialized EKG's including:
- Signal averaged EKG (SAEKG)
- Rhythm Strips
- EKG for dextrocardia
- Pediatric EKG
Consistently performs quality Holter Monitoring including application, recording and scanning Holter Monitor tapes.
Performs all necessary paperwork and charting generated in the performance of EKG's.
Competent to provide cardiology service to the age of the specific population of assigned areas. See 'Age-Appropriate Care for Pediatric, Adolescent and Geriatric Patients' policy.
Uses proper body mechanics and patient positioning techniques.
Assures cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.
Contributes to interdisciplinary departmental teamwork.
Contributes to departmental integration into the larger organization.
Actively participates in departmental- and/or organizational-wide committee work.
Supports department in maintaining regulatory preparedness.
Recommends the procurement and necessity of equipment maintenance.
Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities.
Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills with patient/families, co-workers and
physicians.
