Overview:
The Patient Experience Ambassador provides an atmosphere of hospitality and an exceptional experience for visitors, patients, families, staff and all who enter Mercy Hospitals. Mercy calls us to anticipate and respond to the needs of those we serve. The Px Ambassador supports departmental leaders and care teams by proactively anticipating the needs of patients and their families during their stay by providing compassion, hospitality, de-escalation where indicated and bringing forward opportunities to recognize coworkers as well as opportunities to improve a patients experience with Mercy. Px Ambassadors have the opportunity to serve in diverse care settings throughout the hospital with an emphasis on areas that incur routine waiting and delays and a high risk of patient/family escalation such as the Emergency Trauma Center, ICUs. behavioral health and surgery centers.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school or equivalent.
- Experience: 3-5 years working in a customer relations role in retail, food service, hospitality, healthcare or other service industry.
- Preferred Certifications: Certificate in patient advocacy, MANDT (or other de-escalation certification)
- Other: Candidate must be a positive, compassionate, outgoing individual who is comfortable initiating conversation with strangers, seeking out needs of patients with a proactive approach. Ability to remain positive under stress particularly during frequent interruptions. Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with patients and family members who may be in crisis is essential. Ability to respond to customers' needs by observing body language, facial expressions and listening in a participatory manner. Able to multi-task. Must show initiative/be a self-starter, take ownership, and be able to resolve issues. Able to assert him/herself in situations. Good reasoning ability is needed in order to make decisions as necessary. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Present neat and clean appearance, appropriate for a professional healthcare environment in accordance with hospital policy. Ability to work without close supervision. Basic computer skills.
