Job Summary:
We are seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team at Mercy Columbus. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the RN or LPN to assist with patient care needs, including vital signs, meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system
- Assist with patient care needs, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and mobility assistance
- Perform phlebotomy, blood cultures, and other laboratory procedures as needed
- Provide enteral feeding and wound care as directed by the nursing staff
- Remove IVs and Foleys as required
- Assist with tracheal suctioning and other respiratory care procedures
- Perform clerical duties, such as answering phones and completing paperwork
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CNA/CPTC certification preferred
- No prior experience necessary; training provided through Mercy's apprenticeship program
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform various tasks requiring manual dexterity
