What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hematology and Oncology Care Specialist PRN position at Mercy?
Mercy's 7A unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with hematological and oncological conditions. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with patients throughout their treatment journey, from initial diagnosis to end-of-life care.
We prioritize patient-centered care, focusing on delivering compassionate and personalized support. Our nurses administer chemotherapy daily and must become certified in this area. Additionally, patients may receive radiation therapy, surgical interventions, or transfusions, requiring med-surg skills such as wound care, drain management, tube feeding, and pain control.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement individualized patient plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Administer chemotherapy and other treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patients' responses to treatment and report any concerns to healthcare providers
- Participate in education and training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- RN licensure
- Current certification in oncology nursing (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
