Mercy Primary Care is seeking a full-time (40 hours a week)
Health Information Technician to join our team.
Overview:
- Performs one or more of duties listed below, assisting with health information management.
- Provide direct customer service to customers, providing a copy of the PHI in a requested median (paper, electronic, disc, thumb drive, etc.) when a HIPAA compliant written or verbal request is received. Intermediate Deficiency Analysis. Answer provider questions regarding outstanding documentation to include basic chart corrections. Intermediate abstracting and scanning for Accountable Care Organization quality measures for Mercy clinics assisting with improved outcomes, better quality care and greater engagement with providers.

Qualifications:
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college preferred.
- Competencies

- Experience
- HIM/Medical Records: Minimum 1 year in HIM/medical records or related fields
- Customer Service Experience
- Organzational Skills
- Ability to Mutitask
- Medical Record Regulatory Requirements: Working Knowledge Required
- Analytical Skills: Intermediate required
- Problem Solving Skills: Intermediate required
- Data Analysis Skills: Basic required
- Research Skills: Basic required
- Computer Skills: Intermediate required
- Microsoft Office: Working knowledge required
- Knowledge of the Health Record:
- Working knowledge required
- Medical Terminology: Preferred
- EHR Terminology: Basic Required
- Scanning Documents: Preferred
- Coding/Billing Knowledge: N/A
- Preferred Licensure: RHIT or RHIA
- Preferred HIM Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in an acute care medical records department; Minimum 1 year experience in ROI or Analysis role in an acute care setting
