Overview:
- The Patient Benefit Representative is responsible for facilitating all components related to insurance and benefit analysis prior to the delivery of services. This position must have a strong understanding of various insurances and stay abreast of payor requirements.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required some college helpful.
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with various computers systems; Ability to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard.
Patient Benefit Representatives are part of a career path program allowing promotional growth when clinic goals and experience requirements are met:
- PBR I: 1-3 years clerical experience preferred.
- PBR II: 1-2 years clerical healthcare experience required.
- PBR III (Internal Only): 3-5 years clerical experience required. Must meet all required goals/experience of a Patient Benefit Rep II and complete a preceptor course offered by Mercy.
