**Job Title:** Patient Care Associate
**Department:** Med/Surg
**Work Schedule:** Nights, 7a-7p
Overview:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), assist in providing individualized patient care to achieve the highest level of wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain Vital Signs and Document: Obtain patients' vital signs and document them into the electronic medical records system.
- Assist with Patient Care Needs: Assist patients with daily needs, including meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transportation.
- Clerical Support Duties: Provide clerical support as needed, assisting with tasks such as data entry and record-keeping.
Training and Development:
- We offer an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, providing comprehensive, hands-on training experience. Our Patient Care Associate program is designed to equip you with valuable skills and credentials in a supportive healthcare environment.
- If new to patient care, we provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. This training will be completed as part of your new hire orientation process and must be finished within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position.
- You will need to complete a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of hire and finish PCA competencies within three months of hire.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Certified Patient Transporter Coordinator (CPTC), or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or current Mercy co-worker.
- Experience: None required.
- Physical Requirements: The position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly. You will also spend prolonged periods standing and walking each shift, and may need to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
