Patient Care Technician-PCT Position
Department: Mercy Pain Center - Bentonville
Shift: Full Time Days, 36 hours a week

Overview:
Under the direction of the RN or LPN, we assist in the individualized care of the patient to achieve their highest level of wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opportunity for advancement through our career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond.
- Patient Care Associate (PCA):
- Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system.
- Assist with patient care needs including meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.
- Clerical support duties as needed.
- Phlebotomy/Blood Cultures: Perform phlebotomy/blood cultures under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Enteral Feeding: Assist with enteral feeding under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Wound Care: Provide wound care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- IV/Foley Removal: Remove IV/foley catheters under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Trach Care/Suctioning: Provide trach care/suctioning under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Training:
- We offer an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program providing comprehensive, hands-on experience.
- If no previous experience, we provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Department of Health and Senior Services requirements.
- BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within three months of hire.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
- Experience: None required.
- Physical Requirements:
- The position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- The position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
- The position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
- Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
