Job Description:
Surgical Technologist III
Department: Booneville, AR (Main OR)
Hours / Shift: FT/Days (12 Hour Shifts)
Overview:
The Surgical Technologist III performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, maintaining accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members, maintaining patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Anticipate Surgeon's Needs: Anticipate surgeon and operative team members' needs regarding care delivery, maintaining sterile technique and comfort. Assist surgeon in a knowledgeable, efficient and courteous manner.
- Maintain Sterile Technique: Inspect instruments and power equipment prior to use to assure operational order and troubleshoots, reports, and removes faulty instrument and equipment from service.
- Prepare Equipment and Instruments: Prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies for efficient utilization. Instruments are prepared for sterilization using point of use cleaning throughout the surgical procedure as established by policy.
- Communication Management: Listens to physicians and communicates need to circulator in advance (anticipates). Recognizes and reports emergency situations.
- Technology Competence: Demonstrates competence in initiating and maintaining use of routine equipment and procedures.
Requirements:
- Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required.
- Licensure: Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.
- Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
