- Work locations are Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center – Janesville, WI in L&D providing in house Peds/NB Nursery rounds; and Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside Rockford, IL level III NICU

Overview:
- A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with experience as a beside registered nurse in a level III NICU, who is prepared to practice across the continuum, providing primary, acute, chronic, and critical care to neonates, infants, and toddlers through age 2.
Clinical Experience:
• Well Newborn Care
• Premature infant with RDS
• Infant with Hyperbilirubinemia
• SGA Infant
• Infant of a diabetic mother
• Infant with sepsis
• Infant with suspected cardiac problem
• Infant requiring surgery
• HIE Total body cooling
• Infant with meconium aspiration
• VLBW
• Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
• Persistent pulmonary hypertension/Respiratory failure
Skills/Procedures:
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/NRP
• Intubation
• Fluid and electrolyte management of high risk infant
• Emergency Medications
• Blood products and blood transfusion
• Management of the infant receiving ventilator support
• Umbilical and venous artery catheterization
• Lumbar puncture, suprapubic tap, and septic workup
• Performance of screening diagnostic tests, therapeutic interventions, and emergency procedures
• Surveillance of the growing newborn and high risk infant
• Coordinating discharge and follow-up care for the high risk infant
• Chest tube insertion
• Placement of percutaneous central venous catheter
• Placement of peripheral arterial line
Qualifications:
- Ability to work well independently and under pressure.
- Strong communication/interpretive and analytical skills.
- A high level of independent judgment and ability to handle empowerment for independent action.
- Ability to pass the Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and/or Illinois Health Care Worker's Background Check.
Education/Licensure:
- Graduate of an accredited MSN program
- IL and WI Licensing required and credentialing at Mercyhealth
- Current DEA number
- ATLS certification
- Other certifications as required
