Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily laboratory operations, including specimen collection and laboratory testing.
- Evaluate current processes and methodologies for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop an annual operational plan integrated with MercyOne's strategic plan and related departments' operational plans.
- Maintain current knowledge base of trends, policies, regulatory standards, and legislation.
- Develop and maintain departmental staffing plan detailing associate classifications and qualifications.
- Participate in human resource planning process providing recommendations for staffing needs.
- Assure daily staffing adheres to plan.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in medical laboratory science required; Bachelor's degree in medical technology preferred.
- At least two years of laboratory experience, with management or supervisory experience preferred.
Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes
- MLT or MLS (ASCP) registry required, with eligibility to sit for the exam within the first six months of employment.
- Ability to use discretion and good judgment, understand regulatory and accreditation standards, and communicate effectively.
