Description
The MercyOne Pain Center is looking for a full-time rad tech to join our team. Our clinic is comprised of 3 physicians and 2 mid-level providers who practice out of our MercyOne Hospital location and Ankeny location five days a week. We are downtown on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. We are in Ankeny on some Wednesdays and on Thursday.
We are closed on evenings, weekends and holidays and there is no call for this position. This position will work 4 ten-hour shifts per week but is negotiable.
Our providers specialize in interventional pain management and perform procedures each day with the assistance of the rad tech who will operate the C-arm. The rad tech also has other responsibilities such as ordering/stocking supplies, maintaining our supply outdates, patient billing related to imaging, putting images into the EMR, and reminder calls for procedures.
General Summary
Independently performs special procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and/or manager in a highly technical and professional manner.

General Summary
Independently performs special procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and/or manager in a highly technical and professional manner.
Essential Functions
- Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional procedures on scheduled shifts.
- Provides care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.
- Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and other departments.
- Instructs, supervises, and evaluates student technologists.
- Presents a positive image to community and professional contacts.
- Promotes professionalism with the department, hospital, and community; acts as a role model.
- Maintains intra-arterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Receives, relays and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record.
- Corroborates a patient’s clinical history with procedure and ensuring information is documented.
- Starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing all exams. Maintains the physical environment of the department in a clean, well-stocked, orderly manner.
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any malfunctions to manager/Bio-med.
- Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
- Manages and coordinates the activities of the Interventional Radiology Department with other areas of the department and hospital to insure and maintain patient care.
- Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and utilization of computers, including completion of exam data entry.
- Evaluates images for technical quality, post processes digital data while ensuring proper identification is recorded.
- Participates in physiologic monitoring of patients.
- Complies with OSHA/JCAHO and other regulatory agency recommendations and guidelines.
- Schedules patients
- Successful completion of an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology program.
- Maintains active registry status in ARRT.
- Maintains current Iowa Permit to Practice.
- Two years’ experience preferred.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Prefer Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within six (6) months of hire. The acceptable credentialing body for this requirement is the American Heart Association
- Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support qualification
