Position Purpose:
The Sonographer maintains all standards of the Sonography Area established by the Department of Radiology.
What you will Do:
- Schedules and completes all Ultrasound/Vascular procedures as described in the policy and procedure manual; assists in the coordination of procedures with the radiologist and interpreting physicians.
- Accurately identifies and transports patients to and from the department.
- Assumes responsibility for image management (PACS) and completes department related Hospital Information System (HIS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) functions.
- Responds to telephone inquiries and provides accurate information to customers of all age groups.
- Instructs other radiological technologists, Sonographers and students in Ultrasound/Vascular procedures.
Hours/Schedule:
We offer flexible scheduling with Full Time, Part Time, or PRN
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be board eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer required at hire/transfer.
- Must be certified as a RDMS in ABD, OB/GYN, Breast and RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) with in a 2-year period.
- May be required to alternate shifts.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License if performing as Mobile Sonographer
- Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
- Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
- Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
