The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions position is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment plan for transfer populations that enables the College to meet enrollment goals. Development and implementation of the plan includes strategic planning, research, marketing, and primarily local travel. In addition, this position is responsible for general admissions counselor responsibilities, application review and decision making, and other duties as assigned.

Duties:

Strategic Recruitment of Transfer Students
  • Responsible for meeting set goals for inquiries, applications, admits, deposits and enrolled students of transfer students.
  • Responsible for drafting and executing a recruitment plan that supports the college’s enrollment goals for transfer, re-admit, and second degree student populations.
  • Serves as primary liaison between Meredith College and the NC Community College’s Transfer and Academic Advising units to strengthen agreements between the institutions and to facilitate smooth transitions for transfer students.
  • Travels to assigned transfer college fairs, conducts community college visits and other recruitment and relationship building programs directed at transfer populations.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements on and off-campus events designed to promote recruitment of transfer students.
  • Works closely with the Office of the Registrar, faculty, and academic advising colleagues to facilitate course enrollment for transfer students.
  • Conducts one-on-one information sessions with students and families on or off site as needed.
  • Provides impeccable customer service and follow-up communication to all applicants and/or associated constituents.
  • Responsible for occasional Saturday morning information sessions as needed.
  • May represent the admissions office at college information sessions outside the Meredith campus.
  • Serve on any relevant college committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Student and Family Engagement
  • Counsel prospective students and families throughout their college search process.
  • Provide comprehensive information and assistance regarding:
  • Admissions Process
  • Financial aid opportunities
  • Academic programs
  • Campus visitation
  • Housing options
Relationship Building and Outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary contact for educational partners.
  • Support prospective students' transition to college life.

Skills Needed:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills for successfully working with a diverse college or university community and non-university community.
  • Ability to use spoken and written communication effectively.
  • Ability to understand college procedures, curricular offerings, transfer policies, the value of a Meredith education, and be able to relate this information effectively to prospective students, families and constituents.
  • Ability to understand and explain financial aid programs, eligibility criteria, and award procedures.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally non-locally.
  • Ability to plan and organize special events and activities.
  • Contemporary technical skills proficiency.
  • Positive attitude and strong team building skills.
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, and a good sense of humor are a plus.

  • Interacts with the admissions office team on a daily basis.
  • Interacts with the Registrar’s office regularly.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated success in college or high school admission counseling and recruitment.
  • A valid NC driver’s license and clear driving history is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and experience working with transfer populations.

Working conditions & physical demands:

  • General office setting with moderate noise level.
  • Travel required.
  • Frequent evening and weekend work required.
