Job Summary:
Meredith Environmental, Inc. is seeking an estimator/project manager to support our civil engineering efforts across the State of Alabama. This individual will assist in quantifying materials, labor and costs associated with Civil Engineering projects (excavating, grading, and storm sewer/utility installation) for bidding purposes. Project Management and Estimating experience is required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in building construction, construction management, engineering, or related field.
- Ability to read, understand, analyze, and budget civil construction blueprints and drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore and general computer software.
- Demonstrate knowledge of construction, and civil engineering principles.
- Familiarity with engineering costs and means & methods.
- Ability to converse and work with other General Contractors and sub contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily communication with contractors, design teams and vendors.
- Ability to communicate at a high level, show good judgement and think critically to solve problems.
- Quantity takeoff of erosion control, site demolition, grading/excavation (import/export), storm sewers, water service and sewer service.
- Analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine civil construction cost of construction projects.
- Develop unit pricing for civil aspects of the project to generate budgets and proposals.
- Assist in transition of project from pre-construction/bidding to field management, clearly outlining the scope of the projects.
- Able to effectively write, review, and negotiate contracts of work.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, as necessary.
- Solicit and coordinate with vendors to price and procure materials.
Skills:
- Background in civil engineering management and project management.
- Proficient in cost control and price analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of estimating principles and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
